    Thank you very much for this posting … my father gathered and crushed the dried husks of this plant in his big hands and put it under my nose when I was a little boy following him in the Southeast Missouri Ozarks while we were Squirrel hunting. Although the names and phrases used by my father, grandmother and grandfather and locals come and go in my memory the smell of Maple syrup remains a constant bringing back the memories of those special times early in my Sixty plus years.
